Celery

A staple in many dishes, celery is famous for its aromatic flavour as well as its many health benefits. The juice, seeds and stalks of celery carry numerous great nutritional qualities.

Celery is an excellent source of Vitamin-K, which helps increase bone mass and also has an established role in Alzheimer's disease patients by limiting neuronal damage in the brain.

It is also rich in minerals like potassium, sodium, calcium, manganese, and magnesium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that help regulate heart rate and blood pressure. Magnesium is essential role in muscle function, the nervous system and energy production. Celery known as a ‘weight loss’ vegetable because it contains only 16 calories per 100g of weight. Celery juice has also been found to play a positive role in diabetes.

Immune Boosting Celery Juice


Equipment
• A blender
• Fine mesh sieve or nut milk bag
• Sharp knife

Ingredients
• 2 stalks of chemical free celery
• Juice of 1 lime
• A thumb size piece of ginger
• 12 white grapes
• 1/2 green apple
• 100ml of water

Method
• Wash 2 stalks of celery well and chop into thirds
• Peel the ginger and remove the core from the apple
• Add all the ingredients to the blender and blend well
• Strain the blended green juice with sieve or nut milk bag (you can save or discard the pulp that’s leftover
• Enjoy!
