What Advice can I expect to receive from Dee?

As part of the consultation process, I will go through your medical history and assess your current health status. I will assess personal health symptoms, needs and goals and devise a personalised nutrition plan on this basis. You will be offered personalised lifestyle advice which is tailored to your individual health needs and health goals. This includes carefully chosen dietary recommendations, practical meal suggestions and recipes as well as tips on how to incorporate the changes into your lifestyle.

If any foods need to be reduced or eliminated for a period of time, I will suggest viable, practical alternatives that will maintain nutritional needs. Where necessary, I may also prescribe natural supplements in safe doses, e.g., probiotics and/or vitamins and minerals to help alleviate certain symptoms or optimise nutritional status. However, food is always the main part of the protocol.

Can Dee help me lose weight quickly?

Several studies show the low calorie approach isn’t sustainable and that losing weight through a low calorie diet is not safe. I offer a more balanced approach to weight management with the aim of sustainable, long term weight loss. Clients often find they lose weight by replacing processed and sugary foods with healthier alternatives. Focusing on lifestyle factors such as exercise and movement, stress management techniques and improving sleep can also support weight management.

Will Dee make me give up everything I enjoy?

It is unlikely that I will ask you to completely give up any food or drink (unless you agree a short-term elimination diet). However, you are likely to have to reduce eating or drinking certain foods or drinks that do not support your health goal. Food should be enjoyed and I encourage my clients to eat healthily most of the time but allow themselves treats on occasion (the 80:20 rule)!

Will I be expected to cook?

You do not need to be a ‘master chef’ but it would be helpful to be able to assemble meals. I will provide recipes can accommodate all cooking abilities. I can also give support on shopping and time-saving food preparation tips.

Can I see a registered nutritional therapist if I am on prescription medication?

I will fully research a client’s medication regime to ensure there are no drug and food interactions.
